Larry Richards, DVM

Dr. Richards

Dr. Larry Richards was born in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School. He pursued his dream at Kansas State University and was involved in Phi Zeta Honor Society and Delta Chi Fraternity. Dr. Richards completed an internship in veterinary medicine at Gladstone Animal Clinic in 1973 and then graduated with his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1974. He originally joined the staff of Gladstone Animal Clinic in 1974 and became partners with Dr. Schlager in 1996. He is currently a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He has been active in Boy Scouts as a Troop Leader, AWANA leader.

Fun Facts: Dr. Richards enjoys reading, fishing, camping, hiking, model building, and traveling. He is married with two children.



Jeffrey L. Schlager DVM

Dr. Schlager

Jeffrey Schlager, DVM was born in Mexico, Missouri and enjoyed working part-time for a veterinarian all through high school. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. In 1987 he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in Agriculture and then graduated from the college of veterinary medicine in 1990. He was awarded the Edgar F. Ebert Memorial Award in recognition of outstanding proficiency in large animal medicine and surgery. He also received the Hill's Pet Products Senior Student Award for his clinical report on dietary management of animals. After graduating, Dr. Schlager joined a small animal & equine practice in Pennsylvania where he practiced for three years. In 1993, he decided to return to his home state of Missouri to join the staff at Gladstone Animal Clinic. In 1996 Dr. Schlager became a partner with Dr. Richards when Dr. Clifford retired. Dr. Schlager is currently a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Quarter Horse Club and the Appaloosa Horse Club. Dr. Schlager has many horses, dogs and cats. He is married with five children.


Andrew Rambo, DVM

Dr. Rambo

Dr. Rambo was born in Independence, Missouri and attended William Chrisman High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-professional Zoology in 1992 from Northwest Missouri State University. Although he had a strong interest in wildlife biology, he decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1996 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. Dr. Rambo is currently a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He has a strong interest in exotic animal medicine and is a past President of the Raptor Rehabilitation Program in Columbia, MO. When not working, or moonlighting part-time at the Animal Emergency Clinic, Dr. Rambo enjoys fiction and humor writing. He is a current member of a Kansas City fiction writing group. He resides in Kansas City North and is married with twin daughters.


Matt Richenburg, DVM

Dr. Richenburg

Dr. Richenburg was born in Wichita, Kansas. He is a graduate of Peabody-Burns High School. He received an Associate of Science Degree from Butler County Community College and a Bachelor of science from Kansas State University in Animal Science. Dr. Richenburg received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Kansas State University in 1999. He is currently a member of American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. He enjoys fishing, raising cattle, traveling, and watching the Royals and the Chiefs. He is married with three children.



Holly Smith, DVM

Dr. Smith was born in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Winnetonka High School. Becoming a veterinarian was a dream that started in early childhood. She attended Maple Woods Community College for two years and earned an Associate in Arts Degree. She attended UMKC for a year and then in 2006, moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend the University of Missouri. After graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, she returned home to Kansas City and joined the staff at Gladstone Animal Clinic. While attending veterinary school she managed the After Hours Clinic Crew in the veterinary teaching hospital ICU and worked weekends in Kansas City at the Animal Emergency Center. Dr. Smith has a strong interest in emergency veterinary medicine and surgery. Her current memberships include the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. When not working she enjoys crocheting, reading and attending Mizzou football and basketball games. She is married with two dogs and three cats. Dr. Smith just had a baby boy in summer 2013.


Chris Lutton, DVM

Dr. Lutton was born in Omaha, Nebraska and is a graduate of Elkhorn High School. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 2010. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 2014. Dr. Lutton has interests in the areas of ophthalmology, surgery and canine reproduction. His current memberships include the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. When not working, Dr. Lutton enjoys training for triathlons and playing ice hockey. He resides in the Westport area of Kansas City with his English Setter named Bailey.
